The Life of Louis XVII

Louis XVII, whose full name was Louis Charles of France, was the son of King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. His life was marked by tragedy amidst the turmoil of the French Revolution. He was born in 1785 and, from a very young age, was imprisoned with his family at the Temple Tower in Paris.

His captivity lasted until his death in 1795, at the age of 10, due to deplorable detention conditions. Louis XVII became a symbol of the innocent sacrifice of childhood, trapped in the throes of history.
