This statuette is considered to be a representation of the Genie of the Senate of Rome because of its parallelism with other images contained in coins and reliefs.

It was found at the Temple of Diana in Merida. It represents an old bearded man who wears the robe and tunic. On the left hand he must have carried a "volume" and, possibly, and with the right he would have made a welcome sign. A headband or "taenia", which is common in his iconography, curls the hair.
Archaeologists assume that the statuette was originally placed in a small alcove inside the "Temple of Diana", and was linked to the imperial cult.
