Pierre Alechinsky was born in Brussels in 1927. After studying at the Ecole nationale supérieure d' architecture et des Arts décoratifs de Bruxelles, he joined the group of young Belgian painters, joined the Cobra movement (from Copenhagen, Brussels and Amsterdam, where the main artists came from) and moved to Paris in 1951, where he studied engraving.
He exhibits throughout the world paintings, drawings and engravings and receives numerous awards. He was appointed professor at the Ecole nationale des Beaux-Arts de Paris in 1984.
